Possibly the best Belgian wheat beer. The aroma explodes out of the glass with bit of vanilla and lemon spice. The flavor dials things back a bit with dry bready wheat malts and sugary Belgian cream. All in all an excellent beer.

This style of beer is called a "Streekbieren".

The overall flavour is quite bitter and dry ~ the spiciness lifts it and gives the palate something to concentrate on. The hops dominate throughout but there is a sweetness that comes through as you drink. The finish is pretty tart, yet the aftertaste is fresh, a little spicy and rather refreshing.

Superb, well-rounded easy drinking blond beer. It's extremely refreshing and easy to drink. A great thirst quencher. Lightly phenolic with a touch of banana. A lubricating swallow of mildly sweet pale malts and orangey-citric fruity hops with a mildly mineral, chewy bitterness is closely ensued by a slowly developing wave of fragrant flowery taste.

St Louis Kriek
(cherry flavoured)
20 litres 4.4 gallons 35 pints 4.5% ABV £69.00
St Louis Beers are brewed in the large castle of of the Van Honsebuck Brewery. where they have been brewing since 1900. Kriek is the flemish word for Cherry. Kriek (pronounced 'creek') is a style of Belgian beer fermented with sour (also called Morello) cherries. St Louis Kriek has big, bold sweet cherry flavour followed by the tartness of real cherries and a light alcohol presence feeling on the back end. While it is remeniscent of winery fruit juice.

Cherries occupy most of the palate sugar-sweet and fruit-forward. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, and smooth. A real sweet/sour finish with sweet cherries and some almond. Overall not as sweet as some krieks, and the cherry element is not artificial - very drinkable. Popular with students.

St Feuillien Brune
(dark ale)
20 litres 4.4 gallons 35 pints 7.5% ABV £87.00
St-Feuillien Brune is a top-fermenting beer brewed with extremely pure water. The spring is located under the brewery itself in Blegium. Only the very best combination of selected malts are used. A Dark Belgian Abbey Beer.

St. Feuillien Brune (Brune is Flemish for Brown) tastes of treacle and bitter, lightly burnt woody overtones to the malt. The treacle, while not sweet, develops into a velvety cloying coat towards the finish, which is long, bitter and very fruity including figs and dates, and finally fades into caramelly malt long after the beer is swallowed. The malty bitterness, combined with the sweetening effect of the remarkably complex spectrum of fruit flavours, make this a very well-balanced example of an abbey-style brune. It is pleasantly and dangerously drinkable.
